The Laval Rocket, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, has announced the list of players invited to its training camp. Among them, five players under contract with the Trois-Rivières Lions for the 2026-27 season have received invitations.
Forwards Mathieu Bizier, Isaac Dufort and Nathaël Roy, along with defencemen Xavier Bernard and Jake Gravelle, will therefore head to Laval to take part in the organization’s training camp.
Joining Trois-Rivières on March 3, Mathieu Bizier was one of the key pieces of the Lions’ strong finish to the season. Quickly establishing himself as the team’s second-line centre, the Lévis native recorded 15 points in 21 games. He will thus experience his first AHL training camp.
For Isaac Dufort, this camp will mark his second experience with the Laval organization. The Laval native took part in the Rocket’s training camp in 2023. He also attended training camps with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Manitoba Moose over the following two years. Last season, the 6-foot-2 forward led the Lions in goals, scoring 18 times in 58 games.
Acquired in a three-team trade on September 11, Nathaël Roy joined the Lions to begin his second professional season. Last season, the Lévis native played 62 games with the Toledo Walleye, recording 21 points, including nine goals.
Xavier Bernard signed with the Lions on August 25. The 6-foot-5 defenceman brings extensive experience on the blue line, having played in the AHL and ECHL over the past five seasons. In total, the Mercier native has appeared in 166 ECHL games and 83 AHL games. He also owns an impressive career +56 rating in the ECHL.
Jake Gravelle joined the Lions last season, on February 5, after beginning his professional career in England. The 5-foot-11 defenceman recorded nine points in 28 games while posting a solid +13 rating. For the North Bay native, this will be his first experience at an AHL training camp.
The Laval Rocket’s training camp will begin on September 27. Forwards Alexander Legkov and Israel Mianscum, defencemen Jacob Dion and Kale McCallum, as well as goaltender Francesco Lapenna, signed two-way contracts with the Laval Rocket for the upcoming season. They have therefore also been invited to the team’s training camp.
