The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) announced Tuesday the signing of defenceman Marko Jakovljevic and forward Nathan Plamondon-Michaud ahead of the 2026–27 season.
Jakovljevic, 25, is a defenceman from Brantford, Ontario. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, he brings an imposing physical presence to the Lions’ blue line.
Invited to the Lions’ training camp, Jakovljevic took part in both of the team’s preseason games against the Adirondack Thunder. During one of those contests, he dropped the gloves with the rugged Daniel Amesbury. His performances in those games convinced the team’s general manager and head coach to offer him a contract, making his arrival in Trois-Rivières official.
Jakovljevic previously played in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sarnia Sting before making his ECHL debut with the Bloomington Bison during the 2024–25 season. He continued his career in France the following year.
Meanwhile, Nathan Plamondon-Michaud is a Quebec-born forward who made his mark at the junior level. During the 2025–26 season, he enjoyed a productive campaign with the Grand Falls Rapids of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL), recording 49 points, including 25 goals and 24 assists, in 52 regular-season games.
Prior to that, Plamondon-Michaud played for the Quebec Remparts in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). At 21, he will be the youngest player on the Trois-Rivières roster when the new season gets underway.
The Trois-Rivières Lions will open their 2026–27 season on Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m., when they host the Trenton Ironhawks at the Colisée Vidéotron. Full-season and half-season tickets, Flex Packs and single-game tickets are available at lions3r.com or by contacting a sales representative at 819-519-1634, extension 200.
