The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) have announced the signing of forward Brooklyn Kalmikov, who will bring a strong combination of experience and offensive production to the lineup ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
A familiar name in the ECHL, Kalmikov is a natural scorer who consistently finds his way onto the scoresheet. The six-foot forward enjoyed an outstanding season with the Maine Mariners last year, recording 62 points in 64 games, including 21 goals and 41 assists. He also earned an opportunity in the American Hockey League, appearing in five games with the Providence Bruins.
Kalmikov’s offensive consistency is nothing new. He recorded 56 points in 2024-2025 after posting 49 points the previous season, both with the Mariners.
The 26-year-old forward will also reunite in Trois-Rivières with defenceman Zachary Massicotte, with whom he played over the past two seasons in Maine.
Before establishing himself with the Maine organization, the French-speaking forward began his ECHL career with the Wheeling Nailers in 2022-2023. In his first season in the league, the left shot forward recorded 52 points while also appearing in three AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Kalmikov has now recorded 219 points, including 87 goals, in 264 career ECHL games.
Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Kalmikov is also familiar with the Quebec hockey scene, having played in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). During his junior career, he suited up for the Cape Breton Eagles, Victoriaville Tigres and Moncton Wildcats.
His experience will also allow him to take on a special role with the Lions this season. With more than 260 ECHL games under his belt, Kalmikov holds veteran status in the league. Each ECHL team can have a maximum of four veteran players on its roster. In Trois-Rivières, Anthony Beauregard and Mathias Laferrière currently also hold veteran status.
The Trois-Rivières Lions’ 2026-2027 season will begin on Friday, October 16 at 7 p.m., when the Lions host the Trenton Ironhawks at the Colisée Vidéotron. Season and half-season tickets, Flex Packs and single-game tickets are available at lions3r.com or through a sales representative at 819-519-1634, extension 200.
