Goaltenders Hunter Jones and Francesco Lapenna delivered strong performances during the intrasquad game presented by Le Nouvelliste, as Team Blue came away with a 4-1 victory.
After a scoreless opening period, Team Blue opened the scoring in the second. Newcomer Stéphane Huard was the first to find the back of the net before Mathieu Bizier doubled his team’s lead moments later with a quick power-play goal.
In the third period, Isaac Dufort cut into the deficit to give Team White hope of a comeback. Those hopes quickly faded, however, as Team Blue added another power-play goal. Russian forward Alexander Legkov, who holds a two-way contract with the Laval Rocket, found himself alone in front of the net and skillfully tucked the puck behind the goaltender to make it 3-1.
The Lions de Trois-Rivières have announced the release of defensemen Fabrice Bourgeois and James Mayotte.
The game ended with Mathieu Bizier’s second goal of the night, as he took advantage of an empty net to complete the scoring. The Lévis native enjoyed an excellent evening with two goals, confirming that he is ready for the start of the season.
The Trois-Rivières squad will continue training camp with its first game on American soil Thursday at 7 p.m. against the Adirondack Thunder. The Lions will then play their final preseason game in Rivière-du-Loup on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up their preseason schedule.
