The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) celebrated Halloween in style, earning their sixth win in their last seven games. Facing his former team, Brooklyn Kalmikov stole the spotlight with a three-point performance, including two goals, to lead the Lions to a 5-2 victory.
However, it was the visitors who struck first, as Jack Works opened the scoring in the first period.
Late in the opening frame, Brooklyn Kalmikov made his former team pay, finding the back of the net with a quick shot. Kale McCallum and Isaac Dufort picked up the assists on the play.
In the second period, Mathieu Bizier skated around the opposing net before setting up Nathaël Roy, who scored his fourth goal of the season. Brooklyn Kalmikov and Mathieu Bizier extended their point streaks to seven consecutive games with at least one point. Mathias Laferrière also earned an assist on the goal.
Just over a minute later, the Lions doubled their lead as Jacob Dion scored his first goal of the season on the power play. Kalmikov picked up his second point of the night, while Alexander Legkov recorded his third assist of the season.
Late in the third period, Kalmikov capped off his performance by firing a shot from the Lions' defensive zone. The puck travelled the length of the ice and found the empty net, giving him his third point of the game.
Wyllum Deveau added another goal just seconds later to seal the victory for Trois-Rivières, giving the Lions their sixth win in their last seven games.
In net, Hunter Jones remained undefeated, turning aside 26 of the 28 shots he faced. At the other end of the ice, Max Lundgren stopped 17 of the Lions' 20 shots.
The Lions will return home to the Colisée Vidéotron on Friday, November 6, at 7 p.m. to take on the Adirondack Thunder. The two teams will meet again the following day for the traditional Remembrance Day game, scheduled for 3 p.m.
