The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) continued their strong start to the season with a 7-5 victory over the Adirondack Thunder (New Jersey Devils). The Félins came out firing in the first period, scoring four goals on their first four shots, before holding off their opponents' comeback attempt to extend their unbeaten streak in regulation.

The Félins opened the scoring with less than three minutes remaining in the first period. Following a shot by Xavier Bernard, Isaac Dufort redirected the puck past the goaltender to score his fourth goal of the season. Captain Anthony Beauregard picked up an assist on the play.

Less than a minute later, Jake Gravelle doubled the Lions' lead with a shot that found the back of the net. Mathias Laferrière and Kale McCallum were credited with the assists.

A little later, Laferrière added to the lead. His pass was deflected by an opposing player and found its way past the goaltender, allowing the Montreal native to score his second goal of the game.

Late in the first period, the Lions capitalized on a power play to extend their lead even further. Mathieu Bizier received a pass from Anthony Beauregard and fired a shot from between the faceoff circles to score his seventh goal of the season. Brooklyn Kalmikov also picked up an assist. It marked the eighth consecutive game with at least one point for both Bizier and Kalmikov, who were respectively named ECHL Rookie of the Month and ECHL Player of the Month for October.

After 20 minutes of play, the Lions had scored four goals on just four shots on goal.

With less than two minutes remaining in the period, Christophe Tellier got the visitors on the board with a shorthanded goal.

In the second period, Jordan Klimek quickly cut into the Lions' lead with his second goal of the season.

The Lions responded moments later, however. Alexander Legkov scored his first career ECHL goal, with assists from Kaleb Ergan and Théo Gueurif.

Goals from Jeremy Hanzel and Christophe Tellier then brought the Thunder within one. Late in the period, Édouard Charron intercepted the puck in the offensive zone before feeding Nolan Hutcheson, who beat the goaltender to restore the Lions' two-goal advantage heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, with the Thunder pulling its goaltender, Matt Salhany brought Adirondack back within one. However, Mathieu Bizier sealed the Lions' victory just a minute later with an empty-net goal. Mathias Laferrière finished the game with three points, while Jake Gravelle added two.

The Lions will be back in front of their home fans at the Colisée Vidéotron tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, at 3 p.m. The two teams will meet once again as part of the traditional Remembrance Day Game.
