Lions agree to terms with five QMJHL alumni

Trois-Rivières (July 9th, 2021) — The Trois-Rivières Lions are pleased to announce the signing of the first five players in their roster’s history; Olivier Archambault, Mathieu Brodeur, Alexis D'Aoust, Guillaume Beaudoin and Mathieu Coderre-Gagnon.

Olivier Archambault, forward, Le Gardeur

The 28-year-old forward had a great 2019-20 season with the Allen Americans in the ECHL with 54 points in 47 games. Archambault, selected in the 4th round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011, collected 199 points in 194 ECHL games. He’s a former member of Val d’Or Foreurs (2009-2011), Drummondville Voltigeurs (2011-2013) and Québec Remparts (2013-14) in the QMJHL.

Guillaume Beaudoin, defenseman, Bécancour

The former Trois-Rivières Patriotes (USports) returns home after a season spent in France in the Magnus League with the Homardi d'Anglet. In the QMJHL, he was with the Armada de Blainville-Boisbriand from 2013 to 2017. Beaudoin was the captain of the Armada in the 2016-17 season.

Mathieu Brodeur, defenseman, St-Eustache

The 31-year-old defenseman, 6'6", has just won the Kelly Cup with the Fort Wayne Komets. Brodeur played junior hockey with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles from 2007 to 2010.

Alexis D’Aoust, forward, Trois-Rivières

The 25-year-old from Trois-Rivières returns to North America after a one-season in Slovakia. D'Aoust is a former member of the Shawinigan Cataractes (2012-2017). 

Mathieu Gagnon, defenseman, Montréal

The 28-year-old Montrealer is a former Shawinigan Cataractes in the QMJHL (2010-2012). He won the Memorial Cup with this team in the 2011-12 season.
