Trois-Rivières, Quebec — The Trois-Rivières Lions unveiled the official team jerseys today, Friday, October 1st, just in time for the team’s inaugural season set to begin in October. The team logo, the fleur de lys Lion, is featured front and center on the jersey and reinforces the team’s proud identity and spirit.
“The jersey design is emblematic of the Lions’ strength and determination and we hope to see it as a staple piece around the city and province,” notes Mark Weightman, Lions President and CEO. “We look forward to seeing the jerseys on the ice when as we kick-off the inaugural season Oct. 21 against our Canadian league-rivals, the Newfoundland Growlers.”
Three vertical stripes are featured along the sides of the jersey sleeves and torso as a nod to the city of Trois-Rivières. Red highlights are featured as a reference to the Lions being a part of the Montreal Canadiens development system.
The team will wear blue jerseys at home and switch to white jerseys halfway through the season after the ECHL All-Star Break.
The jerseys were created in partnership with Win X Two Branding Agency — the same company that designed the team’s identity.
“We have been very excited about this team and brand since completing the logo. To partner with the Trois-Rivières Lions again and take it a step further with the jerseys was another big milestone in seeing it all come to life,” said Chris McDonald of Win X Two.
The jerseys are available for order today at boutique.lions3r.com — the official online shop of the Lions. A variety of youth and adult sizes are available.
The Lions are the city’s first ECHL team, but the name recalls the only professional hockey team to represent Trois-Rivières. The Lions played in the late 1950s and saw the debut of several local players, including former Canadiens Léon Rochefort. Now, a new chapter of Lions is born. The team is affiliated with the AHL Laval Rocket, and the NHL Montreal Canadiens. The Lions officially open the 2021-22 ECHL season at home on Oct. 21 against the Newfoundland Growlers.
