The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) announced today that they have signed Montreal forward Robert Orr ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, the left-shot forward spent the past two seasons with the University of Prince Edward Island in U Sports (AUS Conference). In 55 games, the Quebec native recorded 23 goals and 22 assists for 45 points.
Prior to his university career, Orr played four seasons in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads, Gatineau Olympiques, and Acadie-Bathurst Titan. During his rookie campaign in 2020-21, the 5-foot-11 forward led all QMJHL rookies with 32 points in 41 games.
Orr enjoyed his best junior season in 2023-24 with the Titan, leading the team in scoring with 82 points in 64 games. He finished his QMJHL career with 78 goals and 121 assists for 199 points in 233 games.
The 2026-27 season will mark Orr's first experience at the professional level. "I'm excited to begin my first professional season and take the next step in my career. Joining a new team is a great opportunity to learn, improve every day, and contribute in every way I can to help the team succeed."
Orr joins Anthony Beauregard, Mathias Laferrière, Landon Fuller, Édouard Charron, Jake Gravelle, Christopher Inniss, Mathieu Bizier, Isaac Dufort, Théo Gueurif, Sean Gulka, Kaleb Ergang, Félix Paré, Vincent Nardone, Samuel St-Hilaire, Thomas Lacombe, and Thomas Darcy among the players already under contract with the Lions for the 2026-27 season.
