The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Marcus Tesink ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
The left-handed defenseman joins Trois-Rivières after spending the past three seasons in England’s EIHL with the Guildford Flames. In 145 games with the club, located approximately 90 minutes from London, Tesink recorded 30 points, including five goals and 25 assists, while posting a +11 rating.
The New Brunswick native enjoyed his best offensive season last year, recording 17 points in 54 games. He will also reunite with a familiar face in Trois-Rivières, having played alongside Lions defenseman Jake Gravelle during his final season in England.
Originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Tesink is already familiar with hockey in Quebec. He spent three seasons with Concordia University in the U Sports system. In 64 university games, he recorded four goals and 12 assists for 16 points.
Before making the jump to university hockey, Tesink spent four seasons in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Saint John Sea Dogs, in his hometown. In 123 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he recorded 17 points and finished his junior career with a +11 rating.
Tesink also has a family connection to the ECHL. His brother, Ryan Tesink, played more than 300 games in the league over the course of a six-season professional career.
Now 28 years old, the newest member of the Trois-Rivières Lions is looking forward to beginning a new chapter: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Lions organization this season. There are a lot of familiar faces that I’m looking forward to sharing the ice with again, and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at Colisée Vidéotron!”
With the addition of Tesink, the Lions’ roster now includes Anthony Beauregard, Mathias Laferrière, Landon Fuller, Édouard Charron, Jake Gravelle, Christopher Inniss, Mathieu Bizier, Isaac Dufort, Théo Gueurif, Sean Gulka, Kaleb Ergang, Félix Paré, Vincent Nardone, Samuel St-Hilaire, Thomas Lacombe, Thomas Darcy, as well as Robert and Xavier Bernard, under the direction of General Manager and Head Coach Ron Choules.
