The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) announced Friday the appointment of Anthony Beauregard as the third captain in franchise history.
As he prepares to begin his fifth season with the Lions, the 30-year-old forward continues to make his mark on the organization’s history. He holds the franchise records for points, goals, assists and games played.
A native of Saint-Damase, Quebec, Beauregard has played 237 games with the Lions, recording 82 goals and 119 assists for a total of 201 points.
Widely recognized throughout the ECHL, the playmaker is also set to begin his eighth season in the league. During the 2020–21 season, he notably won the league’s Most Valuable Player award while playing for the Wichita Thunder. He finished that remarkable campaign with 71 points in 62 games.
Standing at 5-foot-7, Beauregard also played a key role in the Lions’ success during the 2024–25 season, when the team captured the first Kelly Cup in franchise history in just its fourth season of existence.
After wearing the “A” on his jersey over the past two seasons, the forward will now wear the “C”, a testament to his leadership and exemplary conduct both on and off the ice.
Beauregard will be supported in his new role by alternate captains Xavier Bernard, Isaac Dufort and Zachary Massicotte. Together, they will lead the Lions throughout the 2026–27 season.
Anthony Beauregard thus becomes the third player to serve as captain of the Trois-Rivières Lions, following Cédric Montminy and Morgan Adams-Moisan.
