The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) have welcomed defenseman Aiden Dubinsky, who has been assigned to the team by the Laval Rocket.
Dubinsky, 22, signed a one-year, one-way contract on May 13 and joined Quebec to finish the season in the American Hockey League (AHL). He made his AHL debut on April 19 and also appeared in the Rocket’s final playoff game.
A native of Highland Park, Illinois, Dubinsky played for the University of Wisconsin last season in the NCAA. In 39 games, the right-shot defenseman, who stands six feet tall, recorded two goals and four assists while finishing the campaign with a plus-six rating.
Before joining Wisconsin, Dubinsky spent three seasons with the University of Minnesota Duluth. In 102 games with the program, he recorded 33 points.
A product of the United States Hockey League (USHL), Dubinsky also played for the Omaha Lancers and the Tri-City Storm. Over two seasons in the league, he posted a plus-24 rating.
Already regarded by the Trois-Rivières management as one of the league’s top defensive units, the Lions’ blue line welcomes another addition to strengthen a group known for its physicality and effectiveness.
The Lions will continue their road trip with a three-game series against the Norfolk Admirals on October 24, 25 and 26. The first matchup is scheduled for Friday at 7:05 p.m. The Cats will then return home to the Colisée Vidéotron on Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m. for Rock Night.
