The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) announced Wednesday that they have claimed forward Nolan Hutcheson off waivers.
Hutcheson, 26, previously belonged to the Toledo Walleye (Detroit Red Wings). He appeared in eight games with the Walleye during the 2025-26 season, recording one assist.
A native of Gananoque, Ontario, Hutcheson is a left winger who stands 6-foot-4, bringing size to the Trois-Rivières lineup.
During the 2025-26 season, Hutcheson also played for the Queen’s University Gaels in U SPORTS, competing in the OUA West division. He recorded 24 points, including 12 goals and 12 assists, in 28 games. He finished the season ranked first on his team in both goals and points and was named to the OUA West Second All-Star Team.
At the conclusion of his university career, Hutcheson ranked second all-time in scoring in the Gaels’ program history, recording 107 points in 118 games. He also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2025 FISU World University Games.
The Trois-Rivières Lions will open their 2026-27 season this Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m., when they host the Trenton Ironhawks at the Colisée Vidéotron.
