The Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) put on an impressive offensive performance in Rivière-du-Loup on Sunday, defeating the Adirondack Thunder (New Jersey Devils) in their second preseason game at Centre Premier Tech.
The Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Just over 90 seconds into the game, Jake Gravelle fired a shot before Mathieu Bizier redirected the puck into the net to give the Lions an early lead. Alexander Legkov, who holds a two-way contract with the Laval Rocket, picked up an assist on the play.
The intensity was also on display in the opening period. Following two fights in the Lions’ previous preseason game, Marko Jakovljevic and Daniel Amesbury dropped the gloves during the first half of the opening frame.
The Lions’ offence continued to roll in the second period. Isaac Dufort capitalized on a three-on-one opportunity, finishing a pass from Stéphane Huard to make it 3-0. Christopher Inniss also earned an assist on the play.
Mathias Laferrière then joined the scoring, finding the back of the net on the power play for his second goal in as many preseason games. Two minutes later, Mathieu Bizier scored his second goal of the game to extend Trois-Rivières’ lead. Laferrière and Kale McCallum each recorded their second point of the contest.
The Lions maintained their defensive discipline throughout the third period, limiting the Thunder to 24 shots on goal. Goaltender Hunter Jones turned aside every shot he faced to record the shutout.
With a convincing victory, the Lions wrap up their preseason on a high note and now turn their attention to the regular season.
The Lions’ 2026-27 regular season will begin on Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m., when the team welcomes the Trenton Ironhawks to the Colisée Vidéotron.
