The accolades keep coming for the Trois-Rivières Lions (affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens)! Forward Mathieu Bizier was named the ECHL Rookie of the Month for October on Wednesday.
In seven games played during the month of October, the Lévis, Quebec native recorded 12 points, including six goals and six assists.
Even more impressive, Bizier recorded at least one point in each of his seven games throughout the month. He enjoyed a three-point performance (one goal and two assists) on October 16 against the Trenton Ironhawks, along with three additional two-point outings.
At 25 years old, the Quebec native currently leads all ECHL rookies with 12 points, while ranking third among all players in the league in scoring.
Furthermore, Bizier boasts an impressive +9 rating, good for second place in the ECHL in that category.
Bizier had already shown plenty of promise during his professional debut with the Lions late last season, recording 15 points (seven goals and eight assists) in 21 games.
Before making the jump to the professional ranks, the forward also made his mark in both university and junior hockey. He recorded 99 points in 103 games with Concordia University, followed by 184 points in 289 games in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League with the Gatineau Olympiques and Rimouski Océanic.
This marks the fourth individual ECHL honour awarded to a Trois-Rivières player in the young 2026-27 season, with two different Lions earning Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month honours.
The Lions will return home to the Colisée Vidéotron on Friday, November 6, at 7 p.m. to take on the Adirondack Thunder. The two teams will meet again the following day for the traditional Remembrance Day game, scheduled for 3 p.m.
