Historical debut for the Trois-Rivieres Lions

Trois-Riviere Lions (0-1-0-0) VS Newfoundland Growlers (1-0-0-0)

Thursday October 21 - Trois-Rivières, QC 

Tonight, was the inaugural game of the Trois-Riviere Lions. Just 15 seconds into the game the puck found the back of the net behind Lions goaltender Kevin Poulin. Growlers players Gordie Green, Brennan Kapcheck and Marc Johnstone were the first 3 scorers in this game

The penalties were numerous, during this first 20 minutes. Players Anthonu Nellis, Ty Pelton-Bryce, Charles-David Beaudoin and Mathieu Gagnon all received penalties in this first period.

The Growlers started the second period with a goal from Bobby McMann. At 15:01 of the second period the first goal in Lions history was scored by Alexis D’Aoust, an unassisted goal on a shorthanded 2-on-1. Shawn St-Amant was the second to score for the Lions, two minutes later assisted by Arsen Khisamutdinov and Alexandre Perron-Fontaine

The Lions started the third period by allowing the Growlers a goal from forward Ryan Chyzowski. Lions captain Cédirc Montmigny was the scorer for the next goal, assisted by Anthony Nellis. Ryan Chyzowski scored his second goal of the night at 18:58 seconds, into the empty net, wich gave the Growlers victory. The Newfoundland team went on to win their first game of the season by a score of 6-3.

Tomorrow, at 7pm at the Videotron Coliseum, the Lions will face the Growlers once again.
